From pumpkin patches to haunted Halloween fun, Union Gap will keep you busy building memories all month long.
Central Washington’s premier indoor haunted house does Halloween frights right! Each year brings a twisted new story based on a true, creepy 18th century tale. It’s even creepier knowing the experience is inspired by actual events of the past. While not a gore house, this haunt is for those seeking a true fright. Beginning October 11, Madd Hatters Haunt is ready to deliver the perfect scare. Sunday, October 27, is their Haunted House Kids Day where kids get a behind-the-scenes tour and go through the haunted house with the lights on. There will also be face painting, a scavenger hunt and a mini petting farm. The Haunted Trail is back for year two, so plan to run into some of your favorite scary characters – and a few new ones! Slaycation is the theme for their newest escape room and just one of three to demonstrate your mystery solving skills in the escape rooms at Escape the Madness.
What’s Halloween without pumpkins? When you stay in Union Gap, you’re in the heart of Yakima Valley farm country, just a short drive away from quintessential pumpkin and harvest festivals where you can harvest your own pumpkins, take a hay ride, explore more corn mazes, savor freshly made pumpkin and cider doughnuts and much more! The Yakima Master Gardeners Pumpkin Fun for Children is an annual tradition at Ahtanum Youth Park near the barn. Kids decorate mini pumpkins with more decorations than they can imagine. This is a free event – date to come! Finally, the Valley Mall helps create fun Halloween memories. Join them October 19 from 12 to 2 pm for Malloween. Kids will love this Disney Descendants themed kids day with crafts, games, special character appearances, a costume contest, face painting and giveaways from the mall. On Halloween, kids can safely trick-or-treat at the mall from 4 to 7 pm.
You don’t want to miss this family-friendly favorite that attracts people from throughout central Washington. It starts with the amazing corn maze and the fun continues with hay rides, apple cannons, perfect pumpkins, tasty treats and more. Children love the hay maze, hay pyramid and slide and s’mores roasted in the fire pits. Capture memories with all the photo ops and cutouts and take home carving and specialty pumpkins, gourds, squash, straw bales and corn stalks.
